5 Biggest Regrets People Have About Their Wedding

For many people, weddings are often one of the most memorable days of their entire life. They are a day often associated with joy, love and of course, celebration. However, despite all of the celebration and thrill, there’s a considerable amount of planning that comes along with weddings.

For many people, the stress and responsibility of organizing a wedding can lead them to certain regrets when they look back on their big day. The good news is that you can learn from others’ mistakes made before you, and hopefully avoid repeating them. To help you, here are some of the biggest regrets people have about their weddings, and what you can do to avoid repeating the same ones.

Forgetting to Invite Someone Important

All too often, we’re convinced that we remember everyone on our list, only to find in horror that we completely forgot to invite someone important.  Perhaps it’s an older loved one living in an assisted living facility, or a cousin we haven’t spoken to in years.

It helps to make a list of everyone in your family and friend network, and choose carefully. Obviously, not everyone has the budget to invite 500 people.  So, if you find that you can’t include everyone that you would like to on your list, don’t feel terrible about it.

There are a few different ways to handle this. You could try explaining the circumstances to the person directly, or making it up to them in another way. For example, you can explain that even though they aren’t invited to the wedding, you would still like them to be a part of your bachelor party. It isn’t always to navigate this particular aspect of wedding planning, however, with the right execution, you can avoid hurting feelings.

Overspending

All too often we are so excited about achieving exactly how we want our wedding vision to play out, that we totally disregard our budget.  Your wedding budget should be realistic so that you avoid getting into too much debt, and remember that the price you spent on your wedding doesn’t make it any more or less special. Remember, it’s the love and commitment you’re sharing with your partner that counts, not how much you spent on making it happen.

Not Hiring a Professional Photographer

One of the most common regrets people share about their weddings is failing to hire a professional wedding photographer. The difference between taking photos with your own camera or phone, and one taken with a professional is that A professional photographer creates a detailed shot list that will help ensure all your most important moments from the beginning to the end are captured. Because they are experienced in wedding photography they know exactly what shots to get to make sure your wedding day is a memorable one.
